This retreat is held at Ein Gedi on the Dead Sea. The guest house is in the middle of a botanical garden which has a 365 day a year growing season (in the middle of the desert). There are mineral baths, some of the best in the world, and the salts of the Dead Sea. The three days each woman spends gives a respite that we cannot imagine.

There are women from Safed where their financial situation is so bleak (with 2 working parents) that in the winter the baby has to sleep in the neighbors apartment since they have no heat. I realized that I cannot change someones life experience but I can show them they are cared about and treat them to a few nights at the dead sea. The women are so appreciative. Each woman costs the Chai Center $400 to send which includes their transportation and babysitting as these are people who cannot even afford the 40 shekel bus ride.
