New Years In Amsterdam

The above picture is from the 2006 New Years Weekend (find Schwartzie & Olivia)

__________________________________________________________________________

Past Events:

"Tijuana, Mexio Retreat - January 14th -16th 2005"

OK --- Its now time 2 do it again! In the last 18 (Chai) yrs we've done many " Retreats". People have had a variety of amazing (some life-changing) experiences on these Retreats. Spending a weekend together; namely the place & the food.

But the real "success" --- is the fellowship & camaraderie (& the sweet memories it will evoke in the future, as needed); the personal growth, the new friendships formed between couples (& the inevitable meeting of soul mates among the singles in attendance.)

But since the food is delicious, the country exotic, NO airfare, the presenters R funny, personable & wise, (R we not?) , the Hotel is 5 Star (by American standards), & the whole enchilada (aka Di Gantza Megila), i.e. All-inclusive , is

$180. per person

(Itz a (kosher) steal!)

Living in Southern Cal for 34 yrs U must come in contact W/ Mexican food. 4 me it wasn't tht grt of an experience. (I thought tht "re-fried beans" meant leftovers, BCZ thts the way it tasted 2 me.)

In yrs past, Olivia & I led 6 weekends in

Tijuana, Mexico,

W/ between 50 & 80 ppl each time. Everyone LUVD it.

What R the 2 objections ppl have abt going 2 TJ?

bullet1 - The WATER !

Yes - the water is polluted --- therefore EVERYTHING having 2 do W/ water --- is done exclusively W/ Bottled water ; even the washing of any food (fruit, vegies etc.) .

bullet2 - Ppl dont wanna drive in TJ.

Objection sustained. Neither do I. Therefore, U park on the American side in a watched secure guarded locked property, & get shuttled 2 the hotel (15 minutes ).

A little background: Tijuana, Mexico has 2 million ppl --- & 80 Jewish families ; But the 80 families own all the stores & tourist traps in downtown TJ. So these families built a magnificent, large JCC W/ meeting rooms etc., & a beautiful Synagogue & they welcome us on Friday nite by coming enmasse, & eating together W/ us in their newly built social hall .The interaction & sharing between the 2 groups is always ---extended-fam-harmonious, & entertaining .They R all very outgoing , & thrilled 2 have us visit W/ them on Shabat .

After dinner there is a sharing session where ppl get 2 know each other very well, very quickly. Sat @ 9AM Olivia leads a "Walking Meditation" which has been a highlight 4 some. After breakfast, there is an optional service @ 10 AM & a simultaneous prayer workshop led by Schwartzie, outdoors. After an incredible Mexican Shabs lunch & some more shmoozing/free time/discussion groups/Shbs nap, etc.we're ready 4 a bonfire @ nite & a

Mariachi Melave Malka .

Every Sat nite there R roving bands of Mariachi Bands in the streets looking for gigs. They R dressed beautifully & R inspiring when they play their Latino instruments 2 ethnic perfection, & sing their romantic hearts out; & R ecstatic when paid a few American bucks.

Sunday, after breakfast (W/ yet another Mexican menu tht gives new meaning to "Spanish Omelette" etc.), there is horse back riding*** 20 minutes away , @ famous Rosarito Beach , (or U can sit W/ me & watch the local Rabbi who is a show horseman from Argentina ).

January 14 - 16
