Olivia Schwartz, co director of The Chai Center is multi
talented with deep cultural background. She was the child of the 60's
growing up in a small town in northern California, graduating from San Jose
state and gaining masters in education from cal Berkeley. Olivia comes from
a Reform Jewish background and was confirmed at temple Israel. After having
taught Montessori school in the Santa Cruz Mountains, she went to India and
Nepal and lived in ashrams for 3 years. She left India and continued her
quest in Israel to study in a kibbutz where she discovered her validity and
identity. She is a much sought after speaker on women's issues and
spirituality nation wide. Olivia is known for successfully teaching diverse
groups who have been studying for years, and the mildly curious about depth
and meaning in Judaism.
